How TuxCare Doubled Traffic and Dominated AI Search in Months
About TuxCare
TuxCare secures open source software. They focus on Linux, open source frameworks, and languages, patching vulnerabilities quickly so their customers don't have to.

Challenge
TuxCare had a 10-person marketing team producing a high volume of content: blog posts, videos, and social media. But none of it had an SEO structure behind it. No keyword strategy, no content briefs, no framework for measuring what was working.
The site had content spread thin across too many topics, and Google was giving it less attention as a result. Traffic had been declining. DeShea Witcher, VP of Marketing, knew the team could be doing more with the content they already had, but they'd never worked with a structured SEO approach. Writers were producing work without SEO-focused outlines, and there was no system to tell what was performing and what wasn't.
How They Found Scalerrs
Scalerrs reached out directly. DeShea had a dozen SEO companies in his inbox at any given time, so the bar was high. What set Scalerrs apart was the clarity: a specific plan for what would be done, why, and what the expected outcomes would be. That earned trust from the start.
Strategy
We dived into TuxCare's ICP and mapped out their highest-intent keywords. TuxCare operates in a technical niche (Linux security, open source patching, end-of-life software support), and its ICP had always been a bit scattered. We worked closely with their team to understand the audience and built a combined SEO and AI search strategy around it.
On the SEO side, the goal was to get structured visibility on Google for TuxCare's most important business terms. On the AI search side, we optimized for the same category terms because LLMs pull from content sources ranking for those terms. Win on Google, and you feed AI search at the same time.
Content Audit
The first major project was a content audit. TuxCare had been feeding the site a huge volume of content, but much of it wasn't performing. We went through everything, identified what was working, what wasn't, and what needed to change.
The audit was one of the largest we've done internally. But the output was structured clearly enough that even team members without SEO knowledge could understand what changes were being made and why. That mattered because some of the team were sceptical about cutting or reworking content they'd invested time in. The audit got buy-in from everyone.
Content
We identified several golden keywords for blogs and product pages and mapped each to a specific content type: "Best X" comparison posts for category terms like linux security tools, eol software, and vulnerability scanning tools, and JTBD (jobs-to-be-done) posts for terms like centos 7 eol, ubuntu vulnerabilities, php 7.4 eol, and more.

Every content outline was built with a clear keyword target, mapped to the ICP's needs, and structured to rank on Google and fuel AI search signals. The content covers what TuxCare does, where it fits in the open source security space, and how it compares to alternatives. AI scrapes this content, so the positioning has to be accurate and deliberate.

TuxCare now ranks #1 for vulnerability patching, eol vs eos, linux management solution, and embedded linux distributions. They hold top 5 positions for linux server monitoring, cybersecurity automation, open source security tools, and fips compliance.
AEO / AI Search
On the AI search side, we optimized for the same category terms we were targeting on Google. As we built and powered up content around TuxCare's golden keywords, those pages became the sources AI models referenced when answering buyer prompts about open source security, Linux patching, and end-of-life support.

We ran a content workshop with TuxCare's team focused specifically on what AI search picks up and how to structure content for it. The goal was to make sure that when LLMs answer questions in this category, TuxCare's content is what they pull from.

The result: TuxCare now ranks #1 in AI search brand visibility across the open source software security category with 1,950 mentions across LLMs, ahead of Red Hat, HeroDevs, Canonical, OpenLogic, and Oracle. ChatGPT citations are up 78.6%, Copilot up 275%, and Perplexity up 154.5%. They also hold 334 AI Overview citations on Google, up 40.
We took an omni-channel approach with Reddit, targeting threads ranking for TuxCare's core category terms and getting the brand placed naturally into those conversations. Using accounts belonging to the team, we joined discussions happening in the Linux and open source security space and provided value within the context of each thread.
This serves two strategic purposes. First, Google visibility: Reddit threads rank on Google for relevant terms. Second, AI search coverage: LLMs pull from Reddit threads when generating answers, so every relevant mention of TuxCare in these threads feeds directly into AI visibility.
